The story behind 404 pages!
An old internet myth claims the 404 error was named after Room 404 at CERN, where the World Wide Web's very first central database was supposedly located. While it's a great story, the truth is purely technical! In the HTTP status codes created by Tim Berners-Lee, the first "4" indicates a client error (like a mistyped URL), and the "04" is the specific code for "Not Found".
